Welcome to the Azerbaijani Royal Chess Team, an online chess community for Azerbaijani kids in the Boston area! This team is part of the Royal Belmont Weekend School program and is designed to help kids improve their chess skills through weekly online tournaments and monthly in-person competitions.

How to Join the Team and Play in Practice Tournaments

(you can skip this part if you have already a lichess.org account)

To participate in our chess tournaments, follow these steps:

1. Create a Lichess Account:
   • Visit lichess.org and click "Sign up" at the top right.
   • Create a username and password.
   • Ensure your child’s account is supervised if needed.
2. Join the Azerbaijani Royal Chess Team:
   • After creating an account, click here 👉🏻 Lichess Team.
   • Click "Join team" and wait for approval.
   • Only team members can participate in the tournaments.
3. Register for Weekly Tournaments:
   • Once in the team, check the weekly tournament schedule below on this website.
   • Click on the upcoming tournament link and join before the start time.

Practice Tournament Details

• When: Every Friday at 6:00 PM EST
• Time Control: 10+5 Rapid, 70-minute arena format
• Who Can Play: Open to all skill levels (future tournaments may be organized by rating)
• Note that these are just a practice tournaments. Actual online tournaments will be announced later.

Monthly In-Person Tournament

Starting next month, we will host in-person chess tournaments where kids can compete and meet other players. Details will be announced here.
